Mr Andrew Murray of Le Bon’s Bay, Banks Peninsula, does not breed stud cattle or sheep but keeps a flock of Romney ewes. His sale of two-tooths topped the Little River ewe fair (6000 two-tooth ewes offered). He was a keen competitor at dog trials in Canterbury and was successful with Betty at Springfield and Oxford this year, winning the two heading events at the latter trials.
Was recommended for the D.C.M for “General efficiency and the fine example he has set since landing on the (Dardanelles) Peninsula. During the actions of 12th and 13th July he showed particular energy in getting up ammunition, water, and food to the firing line” when attached to the 1/4th K.O.S.B.

My Dear Barbara
Just a note to let you know that Mammie asked me to write to you. So you can tell your teacher that Daddie has written to you but owing to the censor could not give you much news. There are lots of tortoises out here & Sam Patterson my batman has got a pet one & called it Jacob. It is only a tiny one but there are lots of big ones. If it was not for the war, this would be a nice place, lots of heather & wild flowers you could not get a very nice posy just now. I hope you are getting on well at the school & turning out a real clever body. With love and kisses from your loving Daddy.
G. Murray
